Aviara Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a privately held research and development biotechnology company located in Houston, Texas and was founded by former Encysive Pharmaceuticals, Inc. management. Aviara does not currently maintain physical facilities but conducts development activities in alliance with the Texas Heart Institute, Houston, Texas and Drug Discovery Alliances Inc. Bath, North Carolina.The company’s focus is on the discovery and development of small molecule antagonists of the alpha-4 integrins for therapeutic application to inflammatory and associated diseases. In alliance with the Texas Heart Institute, Aviara is expanding its legacy alpha-4 integrin program of Encysive, primarily through SBIR and STTR grants from the National Institutes of Health.
